Our consultancy service offers vendors a specialised, independent and confidential market intelligence and research service. Custom research is a fast and painless method to gain an objective, in-depth and realistic insight into areas where your organisation lacks specific knowledge. No matter which phase of a project you are in custom research can fill particular gaps.
ICT vendors need information to understand customer needs, to define markets, to develop solutions and to communicate key messages. Kable's custom research services enables suppliers to get closer to the public sector market by asking the right questions, analysing the answers and distilling pertinent information throughout your organisation.
If the answers cannot be found in any of Kable's other market intelligence services, then it will be found via custom research.

If you have a new product, solution or message, Kable can help you listen to your customers. Our qualitative research gives you the chance to hear them speak for themselves; telling you what they want and what they need (and the difference between the two), how you need to approach them and what you need to say.
Our focus groups, in-depth interviews, and online research can find out why your customers feel the way they feel and act the way they act.
If you need to make tough decisions on allocating resources in different regions, or on different projects, if you need to choose between different vertical channels or different R&D projects, if you need to set realistic sales targets or estimate accurate marketing budgets then Kable can provide statistically significant quantitative surveys that help you make the right choice.
Over 15 years' experience in the public sector, and thousands of contacts, helps Kable recruit the right respondent, ask them the right questions, and correctly interpret the answers.
If you're new to the public sector market or are looking to enter a new part of it, Kable can supply the background knowledge you need. We talk to thousands of public servants every year, and back these conversations up with extensive desk research.
Our secondary research of previously published information goes back many years, and we can call on this knowledge to find you answers to questions you didn't even know you had to ask. As an inexpensive method of getting an overview of the market and a quick education, Kable's secondary research is unequalled.
We know our subject. We have been exclusively focussed on the intersection between government and technology since 1990. Our analysts and researchers focus solely on this one area, meaning that we can quickly establish what you need to know and how to get the answers. Our expertise means that we are up-to-speed far quicker than any generic research house, and we have immediate access to thousands of public sector staff around the world. Saving you time, money and effort.
We know our clients. Companies doing business in the public sector have been using Kable's custom research service since we started up. Our first client is still with us today, and most of our client relationships tend to be long lasting. As a result we understand the issues facing technology vendors, speak the same language and offer common sense solutions grounded in the real world.
And we know research. Whether the appropriate research tool for your project is a focus group, in-depth interview, quantitative survey or a review of publications, Kable has the people who can make it happen on time and on budget, and with the depth of information and degree of accuracy and you need to make the right decisions.
When a large telecommunications provider wanted to identify market opportunities for its solutions in Europe, they turned to Kable market intelligence services for answers. Our secondary research sized the market opportunity, identifying public sector spending on information technology geographically and by government sector. We then conducted a quantitative survey of 122 business decision makers and IT department heads to discuss budgets and budget trends, spending priorities, funding flows and specific commitments. The result was a report that served as a base for our client's decision making regarding their opportunities in continental Europe.
Another client-a multinational provider of software and integration systems-wanted to better understand what was happening throughout Europe in regards to e-voting. As the client had already asked Kable to organise a conference for senior decision makers throughout Europe to talk about the subject, we volunteered to conduct market research with delegates to the conference. In the space of two weeks, we were able to organise a number of in-depth interviews, a series of focus groups and a questionnaire that, when combined, were more than able to respond to our client's information needs.
When the UK head office of a multinational systems integrator needed to know the decision-making path of a central government agency, they were in a hurry. They had to decide on whether to respond to a tender within 72 hours, and had to target their response and structure any possible offer correctly. Kable was able to help them, using a detailed organigramme that showed funding flows and decision making processes, and historical data to help our client quickly evaluate whether or not, and how, to approach the tender.
A regional software developer wanted to expand on its success in selling into the NHS, targeting local government bodies as an appropriate market. They asked Kable to help. Our initial response was to write a White Paper explaining how to be a good, smart client for systems integration projects. Not quite 'Systems Integration for Dummies,' but still written in clear, layman's language, pointing out the benefits and pitfalls of SI, using case studies and checklists to help local authorities make good decisions.
